A New Church for Northeast Columbia
That's
the opportunity God has given us. Many of us long to
connect to God, to grow in faith, to find a church where our
children can be loved and nurtured. Many of us want to make
a difference in a world filled with suffering. Many of us
long for a community where we will be loved and accepted for
who we are.
Some of
us have found those kinds of churches in the past, but are
new to Columbia and searching to start again in a new church
home. But some of us have been burned - by churches that
embody a rigid, rules-based kind of faith, or are cliquish
and closed to new people, or turned inward in the midst of a
world that needs help. And so, many of us have just given
up on the church.
God has
called us to create a new church in Northeast Columbia.
We’re working and praying hard to develop a church centered
on the grace of Jesus Christ, rooted in the ancient,
beautiful faith of the early church, founded on the living
Word of God found in the scriptures. A church where you and
your children can be who you are - yet find the challenge
and help you need to grow in faith, in your families, in
your marriages. A church that we hope and pray God will use
to bring healing to a world dying for hope.
And God
has blessed us in amazing ways! Since we began worship in
December 2004, we’ve grown to
over 150
adults, purchased a piece of
land and drafted plans for our future church home, launched ministries for
children and youth, and started
Bible studies and fellowship groups
that meet during the week, and
served our community through Habitat for Humanity and other
ministries. We
see God doing
something wonderful among us - creating a church that we've
always longed for - a church that changes lives, and can
even change the world.
